I was skeptical that this would make a huge difference, since I couldn't feel much slack in the rubber insert, but I was way wrong! It was instantly miles better, shifting was more precise and faster. I have the short shifter from BPS too, and was somewhat disappointed with it until this simple mod brought it to life. I installed it on the 4 cylinder without removing anything, although it was tight (put it in 1st gear). 10/10 would do again.
