I just installed this shifter. Used the same instructions from Saabcentral mentioned here. I did not do the core deal, but installed it mysself and found it easy to do. You just need to enlarge the bottom of the center hole which is square to a round 2" hole for clearance for the new shifting ratio. I used a big half round file. Really was easy. I also drilled a hole in the side of the housing to make tightening the pivot bolt easier. That was easy too.

I have owned this 2001 Aero since new and have 170,000 miles on it. I wish it had come from the factory with a shifter this good! The GS shifter is precise, short and really really good. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I wish I had not spent all those miles with that OEM shifter.
