Just had this installed along with the Sport Engine mount and Sport trans mission mount (see separate reviews). The original shifter in my Viggen was ok as it only had 49k on it, however, it was the typical Saab rubbery feeling, and certainly had fairly long throws.
The GS short shifter could not be more different - short throws, yes, but also the precision and feel of a gated shifter. It is precise and notchy with a very positive feeling. Can you shift faster with it? I think only after you become used to it - the old shifter required almost no effort to flick it into gears - assuming you were yourself precise and knew where they were (and weren\'t going over rough roads or through twisties). The new shifter requires effort to push into gear - not unpleasant, but a definite change from the original. It definitely makes you more engaged in your driving.
The installation is pretty straightforward if you follow the instructions.

Recommended for those who like driving manuals and being engaged in the fun of driving.
