Recently installed on my 1995 900SE. After a few power upgrades the stock clutch, though not worn out, would not hold the power. This one currently has ~200 miles on it and there is a slight chatter at first take off in first gear but only someone super picky would notice it. I expect that to go away with time.
It seems to hold ~275lb-ft torque fine (that's a rough figure). I kept my car as a cable clutch and the pedal feels fine. Nick said it may be too hard on the left knee but in fact it feels the same as the old one. I like the positive feel of the cable clutch so I kept it. Don't feel like you HAVE to upgrade to hydraulic in your pre-98 900s. It's a bit of a push, but completely reasonable even for every day driving.
