These two pieces are absolute automotive art. The Taliaferro coolant tank holds less fluid than the oem tank, but is a sound solution to address having the overflow tank positioned right behind the turbo/exhaust (hot!!). Even after my dealer replaced my oem tank with a revised design, it still weeped coolant on hot days. The Taliaferro strut bar easily clears the new coolant tank and is a hefty piece with nice welds.
Two tricky things on the coolant tank install. First, be careful not to damage the main hose at the bottom of the tank, it's not a regular band clamp -- it's a wire spring clip in a plastic collar that fits into a groove molded into the neck at the bottom of the oem tank. When you pull the oem tank out, there is not a lot of hose play to unclip the spring (don't lose it, mine popped off, but I found it). Second, when putting the Taliaferro tank in, I had trouble fitting the bottom tongue bracket into the tank holder welded to the firewall -- you'll have to bend this to fit. However, that spring clip hose was super easy to snap back on to the new tank!
Very happy with the final fit and finish -- great price too!
