I experienced a little back and forth with Genuine Saab as we exchanged the VIN and CC info. Product wasn't in stock, but staff was pleasant, and email auto-updated me on status and history of shipping.
Upon receipt, the very complete guide that accompanied the PPC was easy to follow. The directions on where the locations of the fuses existed weren't quite correct for my car, but it was easy to figure out. When installing, the READ CAR message appeared. If it weren't for the concise directions, I would have gone on to do it incorrectly.
I installed the PPC Synch program. This process uses your login and password sent to you; I originally didn't know why I received an email saying that my password had been changed, but now realize that there are two different sites - Genuine Saab and the Swedish BSR site. The Swedish site starts the process to install the PPC Synch program. It was all in Swedish, but the Genuine Saab guide made it pretty easy to follow. Once installed, I ran the Synchronize option, and it downloaded the updated version of Stage 1.
Starting again, the PPC now read TUNE CAR?. It did it in about 20 minutes. Immediate difference on the road was not evident, but after slowly ratcheting it up, it seemed to take on the software changes more noticeably.
Now, most noticeable is the more smooth mid-level torque curve. The engine doesn't appear to be working hard, but you realize that you are going much faster from about 40 to 110 mph. Hard acceleration from a stop initiated the traction control in several gears - which hadn't happened before - and that being with newer tires. Gas mileage was down about 2-3 mpg under hard acceleration. Overally, I'm very pleased with the upgrade and would recommend it even to the novice mechanic.
