It's not your imagination. I ditched the $14 snorkel and stock air box for this. You will get better performance all around. Turbo lag is reduced, acceleration improved, fuel mileage improved (if you don't over-indulge in the aceeleration improvement) and emissions reduced. I did the same mod to a Toyota 4Runner a few years back. The Dyno proved the claims of better performance. This is easy to install. I just took off the wheel, pulled back the liner and the old box just pulls down after you undo the clamp. If you want to take out your old snorkel, that's extra. I used a slightly longer bolt than the one supplied with this kit and put a locknut on the end.
